Sexually Transmitted Diseases & what you need to know!

An STD, or a sexually transmitted disease, is an infection that a person can acquire through sexual contact. The causes are bacteria, parasites,  and viruses.  Unfortunately, many individuals are unaware of what sexually transmitted diseases are along with the  symptoms. This is something that anyone who is sexually active should be aware of. Everyday, more people (teens especially) despite the information that is available, seem clueless as to what STD's are and how they could contract one. There are 20 common STD's provided below (All links are clickable for additional information).

  3. Genital Warts
  4. Gonorrhea
  5. Hepatitis
  6. HIV/AIDS
  7. HPV

If you think you may be infected with any of the previous on the list, please contact your nearest healthcare provider. Many of these can be treated if caught in the early stages. However, not getting treated can lead to spreading the disease to other people, infertility, harm to an unborn baby or death. If you are thinking about engaging in sexual activity, please protect yourself and use a  condom.
