FIVE MAIN TYPES OF SKIN:
***OILY SKIN***
Unwanted and excessive shine can be a clear indication of oily skin.
Severe acne problems can develop from very oily skin.
SOLUTION FOR "OILY" SKIN:
Blot the oil off of your skin regularly using oil blotting sheets. This can be found at any drug or make-up stores.
Choose make-up designed for oily skin.
Refrain from touching your skin. Constantly touching your face will add dirt and oil, increasing acne.
Use primer daily, with or without make-up.
Wash your skin at least twice daily.
Regular use of toner can decrease oil significantly.
***DRY SKIN***
This type of skin can appear lifeless.
Dry skin is prone to develop wrinkles earlier.
SOLUTION FOR "DRY" SKIN:
GOOD EXAMPLES
Moisturize daily, using lotion or facial moisturizers.
Dry skin needs extra care during the winter season or at higher elevation levels where the air can be extremely dry (i.e. mountainous regions).
Choose foundation/make-up that is designed for dry skin.
NEVER USE RUBBING ALCOHOL TO CLEAN SKIN. IT WILL INCREASE DRYNESS!
DO NOT USE!!!!!!
***COMBINATION SKIN***
In some areas, your skin may be very dry, while in other areas, extremely oily. This skin type is generally very high maintenance and each area of your skin has to be treated accordingly, using various products.
SOLUTION FOR "COMBINATION" SKIN:

Wipe off any extra oil.
***SENSITIVE SKIN***
May become itchy, tight or red easily.
SOLUTION FOR "SENSITIVE" SKIN:
THESE FACE CLOTHS ARE TOO HARSH FOR SENSITIVE SKIN
Try not to use anything harsh on your skin, this includes face cloths.
It is okay to wash your face using your hands.
ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS FIRST TO AVOID PUTTING UNWANTED DIRT ON YOUR FACE!!!!!
Use lotion and cleansers that are designed for sensitive skin.
#2.
NEVER USE BAR SOAP ON YOUR FACE!
Soap can severely dry your face. Use facial cleansers.
Tanning is bad for your skin. It creates premature wrinkles and age spots. Most sun damage occurs BEFORE the age of 18. Sun damage is irreversible. IF YOU CONTINUE TO TAN, YOU WILL GET SKIN CANCER. Skin is the largest organ of our body. Many people are under the false impression that if you get skin cancer, it is a simple process that just involves cutting off the mole.
THIS IS NOT TRUE!
Skin cancer is CANCER. It can spread to other organs in your body and eventually lead to a premature death. Unfortunately, the risk of skin cancer triples if a person has previously been diagnosed with skin caner. The growing amounts of people with skin cancer are Caucasian women in their early 20's and 30's. In this age range, the damage was likely done at a very young age. The key is early prevention and protection. Know your body!
TIPS ON EXCESSIVE SUNLIGHT:
STOP TANNING! Tanning, both outside, or in a tanning bed, is highly dangerous. Always wear sunscreen, even on cloudy days. Do not be fooled, the sun is still present, and you can still burn.
SEE YOUR DERMATOLOGIST REGULARLY! If you have been exposed to excessive sunlight, visiting a dermatologist on a regular basis is a must! Watch any changes in moles or spots frequently.
If you would like to achieve a bronze glow, there are plenty of products that can be used that will not make your skin orange. Bronzer and blush can help tremendously!
Although extremely rare, people of color can still develop skin cancer.
