NATIONAL MUTT DAY! Beautiful dogs included!

National Mutt Day is an American awareness day held on December 2nd of each year to celebrate the existence of dogs that are of mixed breed. Established by Animal Welfare Activist Colleen Paige, this is a day to recognize how many loveable dogs are being held captive and unwanted in animal shelters. There are many dogs that are left in shelters because they were dropped of from someone who could not care for them, lost dogs, over breeding, or simply "unwanted." The size of most of these dogs range from medium to large. Most people who choose to have a dog prefer "designer" breeds that are smaller. The mixed breed dogs that are left in shelters are generally put to sleep if no one chooses them after a certain period of time.  Dogs of all kinds can be very loving and caring creatures. If you have a little extra time and money, stop by the animal shelter and add to your family! If you decide to add to your family with one of these loveable dogs, be sure to spay or neuter them to stop the chances of increasing dogs that are homeless. Regardless of your decision to adopt, be sure to check out your local animal shelter and try to donate even as little as $5.00 to help save a life.
