For some women it is very difficult to keep their make-up from smudging, or staying on throughout the day. One of the most annoying things to have to do during the day is to constantly have to reapply. Here are some quick tips on how you can help your make-up last longer.
#1.
CLEAN YOUR SKIN THOROUGHLY!
Before applying make-up, make sure that you clean your skin very well. Use a facial cleanser that will not dry out your skin. If your skin is filled with dirt prior to applying make-up this will not allow your make-up to last a very long time and it can create pimples and bad skin. Also, try not to use a harsh wash clothe, as this can create unnecessary skin irritation. If necessary, clean your hands first and just rub a dab of cleanser on your face. GENTLY dab at your skin to clean off of the excess soap.
#2.
CLEAN YOUR SKIN WITH TONER!
You can buy a toner at your local drugstore. Clean your skin using a toner, after you wash, this will ensure that you have removed any excess dirt that you have missed while you are washing your face. If your skin is very oily, you may want to try cleaning your face using toner in the morning AND at night time. Cotton balls work best when applying toner because they are very soft and will not irritate your skin.
During the winter season, you will probably find that you do not need to go through the same strenuous routine as you would during the summer. In the summer months, our skin is most likely to sweat more, so it is important to clean your skin a little extra during those months.
#3.
OIL BLOTTING SHEETS!
Oil blotting sheets are exactly what they sound like. Little sheets that you can pull out and dab the extra oil right off of your face. Unlike toner, oil blotting sheets can be used AFTER you apply make-up and during the day. This should also keep down excess shine and give you a more shine-free look.
#4.
USE PRIMER!
If you are having difficulty with keeping your make-up from sweating off, using a primer is a must! Primer absorbs oil and keeps your face from looking shiny. It also allows your make-up to stay in place throughout the day. You can use primer with or without make-up. If you are choosing to go natural but you do not want our skin to appear oily or shiny, primer is the way to go. There are several different types of primer. Most of the brands such as L'OREAL, RIMMEL and Covergirl work equally as well. And remember, with primer a "little" bit goes a long way.
#5.
WEAR SUNSCREEN!
Now, most make-up usually has some form of SPF in it, however, this does not excuse you from wearing sunscreen. Sunscreen plays a huge part in keeping your skin looking very matte and not super shiny. Although the sunscreen that is within make-up is wonderful, you can NEVER have enough protection from the sun.
#6.
APPLY POWDER!
You can use a powder with or without make-up. Powder is generally used to control shine. It is wonderful to use during the day to do a quick touch up without needing to reapply your make-up. It usually takes two seconds and you are finished. Powder is a great item to use also because it generally comes in a compact which can easily fit into your purse.
SIDE NOTE: It is not necessary for you to try ALL of these tips, but you can start with one at a time and choose which one is best for you. Certain products work different depending on the skin. However, by using these tips correctly, your skin is guareenteed to have less of a shine, more of a matte finish and less hassle of reapplying.
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. —Hebrews 13:6 (KJV)
