SKIN CARE: SECTION FOUR: ALCOHOL & THE AFFECTS ON SKIN!

Most people already know what alcohol is and how over consumption can make you do things you would not normally do. However, many people are unaware that drinking alcohol affects more than how you think, what you do, it affects how your skin looks and appears. It is very easy for the trained eye to notice a person who drinks alcohol and not water. Our body is mostly made of water.  The human body is made up of over 70% water. Our blood is more than 80%‚ our brain  over 75%‚ and the human liver is made up of  96% water. When you drink water it replenishes the body by allowing blood vessels to flow in a healthy manner. A drink, along with caffeinated drinks like coffee and soda, will dehydrate you and deplete vital skin nutrients, making your skin appear dull and lifeless. Doctors always recommend that people drink eight, eight ounce glasses of water each day, and no more than a  moderate level of alcohol to stay healthy internally and externally.

Internally, since 96% of our liver is made up of water, alcohol depletes our liver and body of the necessary nutrients that we need to stay healthy. Many people can develop liver cancer from excessive drinking. But, the big question always remains, how much alcohol should you be allowed to consume and still maintain healthy skin. Unfortunately, the answer to that question depends on who the person is. We are all different so our bodies do not react the same when it comes to how much is too much. However, if you have any questions or concerns, always consult with your physician. A great experiment would also be to stop drinking a lot of alcoholic beverages and start drinking more water. If your skin improves in appearance then there is a good chance that you were drinking too much alcohol and you may want to moderate how much and what you are drinking.
