LIP AUGMENTATION: EDUCATION 101
A lip augmentation is a surgical or non surgical procedure people invest in to get rid of lines, wrinkles and droopy lips. Many of the people who have this procedure done are looking to have what they perceive to be voluptuous or "perfect" lips. The patient who has this done should have lips that appear fuller and more youthful. Depending on what you would like to have done and who is doing the procedure, the price can range anywhere from 300.00 to thousands of dollars. Cosmetic procedures are generally NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE. The most common types of lip augmentations include the following:
FAT TRANSFER: Body fat is taken from another portion of the body through liposuction and transferred to the lips. Anesthesia is required and this method generally lasts longer then the others, however, length of time is still contingent upon the individuals body. Prior to any surgery, a medical authority should give the patient a series of test to decrease their chances of having a allergic reaction.
RESTYLANE: A clear-gel, that is found naturally in the body that is injected into the lips. Similar chemically to Juvederm.
ARTECOLL: Uses permanent soft tissue filler to inject underneath the skin to reduce the lines of wrinkles by making the lips appear fuller. This is a form of cosmetic surgery.
